12-14 April

Author Cate Kennedy and Ingrid Gaiotto of In Giro Tours have teamed up to welcome you to this fully accommodated workshop retreat in the convivial retreat atmosphere of the Eastern Beach Art House, on the foreshores of the Geelong esplanade.

Over the course of this weekend workshop, Cate will be working with a small group of writers interested in exploring how to weave the elements of their stories together to create stronger, more compelling work.  Using the essential components of characterisation, voice, place, dialogue and imagery, Cate will illustrate how to both infuse fiction with new energy and narrative momentum, and potentially bring these time-honoured storytelling techniques into the realm of creative non-fiction.

The environment will be nurturing, supportive and stimulating, with morning guided writing sessions designed to shake loose new ideas and structured talks around key writing principles, and opportunities to share your writing in a supportive, salon-style atmosphere, designed to encourage and inspire. Come with a desire to restart a stalled project or generate ideas for a sparkling and surprising new one. Allow yourself the luxury of an uninterrupted writing focus and the indulgent catering and conviviality of this special weekend retreat.
